Blog Tour – The Corner Shop in Cockleberry Bay by Nicola May

I am SO CHUFFING EXCITED to be kicking off the blog tour for Nicola May’s THE CORNER SHOP IN COCKLEBERRY BAY.  This is one of those books that I can’t stop thinking about way after I’ve read it!

Right from the very first page, when Rosa visited the solicitor, I was totally invested in her life and her future, and once she moved to Devon I was almost obsessed with wanting to know more. I cherished every moment of the read, as it was so lovely but at the same time, I didn’t want to keep reading because I didn’t want the book to ever end.

I loved the character of Rosa, she was so entertaining and relatable.  One of those characters that you actually want to be! Or be friends with.  I loved the pluckiness of her character just going to start a new life in a new place and I totally adored and was quite envious of her friendship with Josh.  What could be better than having a gorgeous rugby player as your BFF who would drop everything to help you? Their relationship was so  lovely and special!

Now Hot, her little sausage dog deserves a review all of his own.  But he’ll get a paragraph instead! Hot was a superstar.  As a new dog mamma myself, I loved the special relationship between Rosa and her dog.  He was an integral part of the story and was a charming, funny companion. LOVED him! And his name is genuis!

The characters in the book all had their own special quirks and were so well written that even the rotters, you couldn’t help but like.  I just loved everything about the book if you hadn’t already guessed!

I’ve read every book that Nicola May has ever written and have always said that I think she’s incredibly talented and gifted.  And should be up there on bookshelves in supermarkets and bookstores next to the likes of Milly Johnson, Carole Matthews and Cathy Bramley.  I always read her books with a big smile on my face and warmth in my heart and there’s always a lot of laughs along the way too.

In summary, The Corner Shop in Cockleberry Bay is a brilliantly entertaining, feel good read, full of charm and humour which will keep you compelled to turn the pages to and feel a little sad when it’s over that these people are no longer in your life.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟5 stonking stars from me!

About the book:

Rosa Larkin is down on her luck in London, so when she inherits a near-derelict corner shop in a quaint Devon village, her first thought is to sell it for cash and sort out her life. But nothing is straightforward about this legacy. While the identity of her benefactor remains a mystery, he – or she – has left one important legal proviso: that the shop cannot be sold, only passed on to somebody who really deserves it.

Rosa makes up her mind to give it a go: to put everything she has into getting the shop up and running again in the small seaside community of Cockleberry Bay. But can she do it all on her own? And if not, who will help her succeed – and who among the following will work secretly to see her fail?

There is a handsome rugby player, a sexy plumber, a charlatan reporter and a selection of meddling locals. Add in a hit and run incident and the disappearance of a valuable engraved necklace – and what you get is a journey of self-discovery and unpredictable events.

With surprising and heartfelt results, Rosa, accompanied at all times by her little sausage dog Hot, will slowly unravel the shadowy secrets of the inheritance, and also bring her own, long-hidden heritage into the light.
