Blog tour review – The Gift of Friends by Emma Hannigan

Totally honoured to be invited to be on the blog tour with my review for The Gift of Friends by Emma Hannigan. What a fabulous, feel-good, heart-warming book. I absolutely blooming loved it! Do take a peek at the other reviewers who have read and reviewed this book though, don’t just take my word for it.

About the book

Kingfisher Road – a leafy, peaceful street in the town of Vayhill. But there are whispers behind closed doors. Who is moving into Number 10?

Engaged to handsome, wealthy Justin Johnston, Danielle appears to her new neighbours to have the perfect, glossy life. But not everything is as it seems…

In fact, each of the other four women who live close by has a secret, and each is nursing their own private heartache.

But could a gift be waiting on their doorsteps? And, by opening their front doors, and their hearts, to each other, could the women of Kingfisher Road discover all the help they need?

This thirteenth and final novel from the beloved and inspiring Emma Hannigan is a life-affirming, uplifting story that celebrates the strength and joys of female friendship.

So, what did I think?

From the moment I started reading The Gift of Friends I felt part of the Kingfisher Road gang. And oh boy, what a gang. What a wonderful group of neighbours these awesome ladies were. How amazing to live in a street where you are so protected and loved and included. I wished that I lived on this street and could become friends with each of these wonderful characters. Each of them had secrets that they kept hidden, secrets that they shared but throughout it all, friendship was the one thing that gave them strength and love and guidance and saw them through. It also taught me that you never know what goes on in people’s lives and should never judge anyone.

I didn’t have a favourite character out of all of the neighbours, they were all totally awesome in their own way. Hannigan created a fabulous cast of characters that came to life before my very eyes, with the most realistic yet different and individual qualities that made them all really special. It was like being a fly on the wall in each of the houses in the road. Just the perfect amount of snooping into their lives to see what was going on, and made you want to help them.

This was a very special book which shows you that fantastic friendships can see you through any situation that looks impossible at first, but with a little help from your friends, you can take on the world.

While half of me wanted to read to the end to find out what happened to them all, the other half never wanted to leave these wonderful ladies behind.

The Gift of Friends is a fabulous, feel-good, heart-warming book that will stay for you way longer than when you turn that very last page.

I loved every single thing about this book, apart from the fact that so sadly, it was the authors last. I hope you are looking down on the book world Emma Hannigan, proud as punch that the world will be reading your beautiful words and fabulously crafted stories for many years to come.
