Blog Tour Review – The First Time I Saw You by Emma Cooper

Having met Emma Cooper recently at an event in Birmingham, because we tittered at the same jokes, I had a pretty good idea that I’d probably like her writing style. What I didn’t realise is that I’d not only ADORE her writing style, which is gorgeously warm, witty and wonderful, I also wished I had an ounce of her writing talent. Perhaps I’ll get her to wave her magic writing hand and hope some fairy dust falls out onto me.

About the book

Lost:
Six-foot-two Irish man who answers to the name Samuel McLaughlin.
Has weak shins and enjoys show tunes.
If found, please return to Sophie Williams.

Before Sophie met Samuel she saw the world in grey.
Before Samuel met Sophie, he never believed in love at first sight.

When they first meet, something tells them they are meant to be.
But fate has other ideas.

Now they have lost each other and can’t see a way back.
But they’ve already changed each other’s lives in more ways
than they ever expected…

So what did I think?

I absolutely blooming love it!

The love story in this book was one that even made ME believe in love at first sight. It was romantic, and beautiful and heart-stopping and did I mention romantic? LOL!

Sophie and Samuel were wonderful yet deeply flawed characters that you took into your heart right from the start even if you didn’t agree with their every move. Their journey was annoying and frustrating and fabulous. I found myself shouting at the book in many places and it really would make the most amazing film.

Emma’s writing is warm and charming. You can’t stop turning the pages, compelled to unravel more of her amazing storytelling. Her sense of humour comes through in her words and the story is also realistic and you are deeply invested in the main character’s lives from that very first page.

Right now I am reading The Songs Of Us, Emma’s debut novel which I took to a spa on Monday and had to literally pretend I was coughing at one point when I snorted with the hilarity of many moments. I honestly think Emma Cooper is going to become one of my favourite ever authors. Her writing gives me ALL THE FEELS!

When’s the next one?

Don’t just take my word for it though. The blog tour graphic is here and you can read what other bloggers are feeling about it too.
