Blog Tour Review – Right Behind You by Rachel Abbott

Today I’m absolutely delighted to be on the blog tour for Right Behind You, the latest instalment in the awesome DI Tom Douglas series by Rachel Abbott. Thanks to Anne Cater for inviting me to be part of it.

About the book

Some doors should not be opened.
Some can never be closed.

Jo Palmer’s peaceful and happy life is about to end.

Ash – the man she loves – will be arrested by the police.
Millie – her precious daughter – will be taken from her.

She will lose her friends.
She will doubt her sanity.

Someone is stealing everything Jo loves, and will stop at nothing.

But right now, Jo is laughing in her kitchen, eating dinner with her family, suspecting nothing.

It’s raining outside.

There’s a knock at the door. They are here.

So what did I think?

When reading some series, I always wonder whether the author will be able to keep it going. Whether they’ll be able to keep it fresh, keep the reader gripped each time and continually be as good as the earlier books.

I don’t think Rachel will ever have this problem as this series goes from strength to strength and we discover and love the main characters and their families more and more in each instalment. From the very first page of all of these books, you quickly slip back into their lives as if you’ve never been away.

While Becky is Tom’s right hand woman, she now plays equally as strong a part as Tom and her character and story arc grows and grows. The more I learn about Tom and his family in each book, the more he’s become my favourite male detective character of all time.

Rachel has a great gift of turning your own life upside down in her stories, making you imagine the worst happening in your own life and wondering how on earth you’d cope and react in those horrendous circumstances. This particular plot line had me wondering what the hell was going on and who was involved. I really couldn’t work it out and suspected EVERYONE. I really do hope I’d never need them, but I’d absolutely want Tom and Becky working my case if necessary!

This is another case where Rachel has mixed intrigue and mystery with a gripping storyline which is a real page turner. A blast from the past in Tom’s life adds a great dimension to the plot too. Added to a very twisty-turny plot made this a belter of a read!

This is a series which gets better and better, I’m a huge fan and I hope it NEVER ends!

Highly recommended.

There are lots of bloggers taking part in a blog tour for this book right now. You should check out their posts too.
