Blog tour review – Meet Me In Cockleberry Bay by Nicola May

I was first introduced to Nicola May‘s books many moons ago and she has always been a ‘go to’ author for me every time she has a new release. Her stories are brilliant, with serious issues written about in a relatable way, that make you laugh, and make you cry and take you on a real rollercoaster of a journey. I absolutely loved The Corner Shop in Cockleberry Bay and there was no-one happier than me, except probably Nicola, when this book sat proudly at Number 1 in the Kindle Charts for week after week.

I was SO FLIPPING excited when I knew that Book 2 was on the way, there was no way I was missing out on being on the blog tour to shout about the sequel Meet Me In Cockleberry Bay. Check out the other bloggers who are posting guest posts and their reviews too of this brilliant book!

About the book

The cast of the runaway bestseller, The Corner Shop in Cockleberry Bay, are back – including Rosa, Josh, Mary, Jacob, Sheila, new mum Titch and, last but by no means least, Hot, the adorable dachshund.

Newly wed, and with her inherited corner shop successfully up and running, Rosa Smith seems to have all that anyone could wish for. But the course of true love never did run smooth and Rosa’s suspicions that her husband is having an affair have dire consequences.

Reaching rock bottom before she can climb back up to the top, fragile Rosa is forced to face her fears, addiction and jealousy head on.

With a selection of meddling locals still at large, a mystery fire and Titch’s frantic search for the real father of her sick baby, the second book in this enchanting series will take you on a further unpredictable journey of self-discovery.

What did I think?

I’m struggling to find enough superlatives to describe how I feel about this book. I read it, or should I say, raced through it, on a recent holiday and it was the perfect holiday read. I honestly could not put it down, shutting the world outside and concentrating on nothing but the book, so it was a good job there was nothing else needed of me at that time.

Firstly if you haven’t Book 1, I recommend that you do so. Book 2 can be read as a standalone, but please give yourself the absolute joy of reading Book 1 which really is a terrific read and really does set the scene beautifully.

I absolutely adored being back in Cockleberry Bay. I very quickly and easily slipped back into life in this amazing setting that felt so very familiar, with very single character in the book written so well, that you feel like you could reach out and touch them. Their personalities are just so perfectly written, that you want to know them all, and spend time with them, even the ones that you shouldn’t!

Rosa is such an amazing character, so messed up, insecure, impulsive, but so lovable that I want to go and live in Cockleberry Bay and be her best friend. Josh is one of the best book husbands I’ve come across. He’s sensible and gorgeous and considerate and And Hot the adorable dachshund is just the best dog character ever written. And the guys at the pub – they would be such fabulous best mates. And Titch! She was awesome! I loved them all! I really did!

There is one phrase in the book, that I’m going to leave you to find out, that will sit with me forever but when you read it, and you really must, you’ll know exactly what I mean.

This is such a brilliantly written, feel-good, fantabulous read, that really does warm the cockleberries of your heart that will leave you with a smile on your face and a fuzzy feeling in your tummy!

Nicola May – you have absolutely smashed it with the second book in the series. Please do keep them coming as fast as you can.

HUGELY RECOMMENDED!
