So what did I think?
I thoroughly enjoyed AM I GUILTY by Jackie Kabler.
Having read and loved Jackie’s cosy crime Cora Baxter series, I already love her writing style, but this is much deeper and much darker and she’s made the transition VERY well.
Totally compelled by every page, my brain was working overtime, as the plot unfolded and I discovered what had actually happened, and then trying to work out who had done what in this skilfully written web of intrigue and family secrets lies.
Gripped from the very first page, you are left guessing what has actually happened for quite a while and when you do, you are so torn between your emotions and working out which characters you like and which you really don’t like and who can be trusted.
A brilliant twist I absolutely did not see coming, right at the very end, left me gobsmacked and wishing there was a sequel to read straight away.
Well done Jackie. Another absolutely cracking read!
Author Bio
Jackie Kabler was born in Coventry but spent much of her childhood in Ireland. She worked as a newspaper reporter and then a television news correspondent for twenty years, spending nearly a decade on GMTV followed by stints with ITN and BBC News. During that time, she covered major stories around the world including the Kosovo crisis, the impeachment of President Clinton, the Asian tsunami, famine in Ethiopia, the Soham murders and the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. Jackie now divides her time between crime writing and her job as a presenter on shopping channel QVC. She has a degree in zoology, runs long distances for fun and lives in Gloucestershire with her husband.
