Blog Tour – Believe In Me by Susan Lewis

I’m totally delighted to be on the blog tour for Susan Lewis’s Believe in Me which is out today!

About the book:

Sunday Times bestselling author Susan Lewis is renowned for her gripping, heartfelt and meticulously researched novels which explore how ordinary people cope in extraordinary situations. She doesn’t shy away from tackling gritty subjects head on and her stories invariably highlight everyday issues in the news.

Believe in me follows Leanne as she tries to mend the wounds her family has suffered after the death of her husband. When the opportunity arises to foster a child, Leanne is quick to open her doors. But her generosity is about to be put to the ultimate test.

Daniel Marks is a ten year old boy whose father is in prison for a gruesome murder.

Everyone deserves a place to call home, and a family to care for them, but will Leanne and her family still be safe once Daniel enters their lives?

With the help of friend and familiar ex detective Andee Lawrence, Leanne sets out to right the wrongs of the past.

What did I think?

This was such a powerful novel, beautifully written in true Susan Lewis style, that shows you that you shouldn’t always believe what you see.  There needs to be more people in the world like Leanne and her mum.  People who only see the good in people and want to help to change the world.  I’m sure if there were more people like them, working their wonderful magic of trying to help everyone, the world would be a much nicer place.  It also showed me that if you truly believe something and feel that you can do something about it, then you should.  So many people today accept what they see, because they don’t want to get involved.  I was so delighted to meet Leanne and her gang and wished there were more people like them in my life.

I have a few friends who foster children, and I think that they are incredibly amazing that they want to give children who don’t have the opportunities that others have, and I hope that this book maybe inspires others to consider giving other children the gift of a wonderful life.    Leanne and her family, and when I say family, I include her huge circle of friends in that group too, are the first people to show this foster child proper love and affection.   I’m sure that this is indicative of the “system” today.

As always, Susan Lewis writes an extremely powerful story about a subject that is a hard one and wonderful characters whose lives you want to be part of.   The characters have many flaws and are struggling with their own issues and demons, yet still find the room in their hearts to help others.  And I love the way that Leanne puts everyone else ahead of herself.  An amazing mother and heart of this wonderful family.

I’m totally honoured to be on the blog tour for this brilliant book and an author who I’ve admired for many years and read a number of her books.  This book just reminded me of why Susan Lewis is one of the most wonderful authors around today.
